Version 5 Manual
Session Manager
The Session Manager is a tool that allows you to interact with your PingPlotter database. It can be found under File → Manage Sessions...
Note
The Session Manager will pull from either the default directory or a predefined directory set in Options → Auto-Save Data.
Using a table format, the Session Manager categorizes your trace sessions using the following criteria:
- Target Name
- Target IP
- Follow IP Changes
- Session Start
- Session End
- Samples
- State
- Client (if using PingPlotter Cloud).
By default, the Session Manager will sort sessions using "Active / Archived / Pause / Will Delete" keys in the State column and can use 3 different functions: Open, Delete, and Export.
Trace Management
Every trace you've ever started or closed can be found in the Session Manager. If you're looking to track down a trace, simply select a session from the table and choose either Open or Export: The Open option will bring the session back into view within the PingPlotter interface — select the trace and press the Start button to resume tracing and import the data.
Data Management
Instead of managing data via your OS’s file management, you can use the Session Manager.
To delete old trace data, sort the session files by clicking the column header for Session End. Then, select the traces you wish to remove and choose Delete.
Exporting Data
If you have a large number of trace targets, it is sometimes easier to export data for every target at once.
The Export option will export the entire trace session to a location of your choosing (in contrast with the use of File → Export SampleSet, which gives you the option of either exporting All Data or the data within your current focus period).
To export a few specific sessions at once, multi-select your desired trace sessions, then choose Export; you'll need to save each individually. Continue exporting the sessions to a location of your choosing.
