Backing up PingPlotter Data
In some situations, you may wish to back up the entirety of your PingPlotter data. Follow these steps to safely back up or restore your data.
For Windows
Stop the Servce
First, you will need to stop the Windows Service if PingPlotter is currently running as a service. Right-click the Windows Taskbar and click Task Manager. Then, navigate to the Services tab and locate PingPlotter. Right-click PingPlotter and select Stop.
Make a copy of your PingPlotter folders
If running as a Service, navigate to the following folder by pasting the below file path into the File Explorer navigation bar:
Make a copy of the entire PingPlotter 5 folder and place in your backup location. Ignore this step if running as an application.
Next, if you're running PingPlotter as either an application or a Service, navigate to the following folder by pasting the below file path into the File Explorer navigation bar, ensuring that the application is closed first:

Start the Service
If you were running PingPlotter as a service prior to backup, you will need to resume this function. Right-click the Windows Taskbar and click Task Manager. Then, navigate to the Services tab and locate PingPlotter. Right-click PingPlotter and select Start.
Restoring backup data
If you wish to restore PingPlotter from a backup, you will need the files copied from the above directories.
Close PingPlotter and stop the PingPlotter Service if applicable (by following the above directions). Place the folders back in their respective locations, electing to replace all files when prompted.
For macOS
Close PingPlotter
First, you'll need to close PingPlotter. Right-click the application in the macOS Dock and click Quit.
Make a copy of the PingPlotter folders
If running PingPlotter with Background Mode, right-click Finder → Go to Folder. Navigate to the following folder by pasting the file path below into the search bar:
Make a copy of the entire PingPlotter 5 folder and place in your backup location. Ignore this step if running as an application.
Next, if you're running as either an application or an application with Background Mode, right-click Finder → Go to Folder. Navigate to the following folder by pasting the file path below into the search bar:
Make a copy of the entire PingPlotter 5 folder and place in your backup location.
Restoring backup data
If you wish to restore PingPlotter from a backup, you will need the files copied from the above directories.
Close PingPlotter, then place the backup folders back in their respective locations, electing to replace all files when prompted.
